ya, usually April and May, but with all the bass being caught and the weather mild I thought I would give it a go....
It’s an interesting question....did anyone catch a bass on lure earlier than that??
Or fly for that matter??
People say you should wait till April, but the water clarity was not too bad yesterday.
Standing up on the rocks I could see the lure coming in, so a tuned predator like a bass surely could see it better (being under water would help too) also the lures I use have rattles to attract attention.....
So the question is are you wasting your time during jan/feb/march???

It was great to get out though, the promise of things to come???

I got some nice new clousers and will give that a go, i have a sandy mark in cork harbour that usually is very good later in the year...might try that.....
Sounds like my style of fishing too! _ _

Dunner,
for what its worth the mark you mentioned produced in feb last year for myself and a few others would be expecting a few by the end of the month once the temps become a bit more stable you should see more regular catches, but when they start to show please please don'nt give exact locations as every Tom Dick and Harry will be about, and i for one this year am going to be witholding all exact info from the public view as to be quite honest a lot of trust issues putting such info out into the open for all to see.[for me any way]

well, i dont generally give out exact locations... however any tom dick and harry who knows a little about bass fishing will already know areas like that and others that are well known to anglers... its a long bit of rough coastline............

Dunner,
point taken.Would'nt agree that every tom dick harry etc knows of all these marks just watch happens if a person puts up a GOOD report from one of the known bass marks alot more rods will be out and about. But thats just my paranio kicking in again.
Thats just my opinion so don't take any notice of me as i've said i just have a few trust issues on the bass fishing in particular and divulging marks, and i know you don't mention specific marks so i apologise.
Hope you have a good bass season and get a few biggies.

No, you have a good point, and I suppose we (me included) should be a bit more vague about any bass marks on forums due to recent events...no apology needed.. I generally fish all along the east coast so in future I will only say "well known east mark" :)
Good luck!
Looking forward to the sport ahead........
