Ordinary mackeral feathers work a treat for them.

Outfished bait for me one day from a charter boat.

Would the feathers or other lures work for cod from the shore? I'm trying to find excuses to keep spinning/plugging during the looooong winter... :(

keep spinning/ plugging/luring away during calm spells.
the water will me much clearer you would also have a good chance of connecting with a few coalies to lures a red gill or small shad about 3ft behind a light weight should do the trick.
