I would like to fit a few bits and bobs onto my kayak which would involve fixing a couple of stainless steel screws etc etc.Is putting a few extra fixings a major issue or a big no go area? I would use the proper rubberised selants and proper screws maybe 5x20 stainless.
opinion greatly appreciated.

I have customised my kayak and it's really not a big deal.
Best to ensure that any holes are perfectly water tight. Even the best job can let in small amounts of water. These small amounts of water will not make you sink. But the water swirling about inside the hull of your boat will make the kayak much more unstable.
