In-Shore kayak's

Postby Hammerman » Sun Jun 10, 2007 8:07 pm

Talking to a man today on the beach who advised me to go for one of the Plastic Kayak's for what i want for a bit of near off-shore fishing and just general messing about-----low and behold 5 min's later a fella turns up with one and sticks himself and four kids on it and paddles out and around the bay-----absolutely brilliant.

My question is----What Kayak do i go for for near off-shore fishing and general messing about----I need the name of a non-serious model and also a good place to purchase in Mayo-----not too bothered about second hand either------I would only do this in good weather when the sea is calm.

I don't know if this would suit you but it might be a start.

Defiantly suit for the messing about Kayak surfing and the likes. Maybe not so good for fishing "hooks" ouch!

These are the kayak companies I've heard most about . They all have different ranges of yak's for fishing.
Need a bit more info:
Do you want a single yak or one to take out a partner or child?
Price Range?
Etc?

Ocean kayak do a Caper fishing kayak which is a single yak smaller then the Prowler range but just as stable have a look, http://www.oceankayak.com/kayaks/angler ... ngler.html

Easier on and off the car and is fun in the surf as well. Retail around €650

give me a PM

Hammerman,

I have just bought an ocean kayak caper, awesome bot of kit, easy to load and unload off the car, stable enough to fly fish off. Just waiting to get navigation lights for it.

What do you fancy using yours for?

cheers,

Macker.
