SportscastIreland results Slaughterhill Sunday 4th June 2017

Certainly not an easy day on the hill this Sunday, a SW breeze which while constant in direction was definitely not consistent in speed. One moment it was blowing and the next, hardly a breath. In the afternoon some showers pushed through bringing the wind before them. It was a matter of waiting then hitting the lead prior to being drenched! Andrew managed only a couple of casts before a muscle injury forced a retirement and Ger was the crackoff king whilst getting to grips with the 100grm. This he did splendidly with a PB so a massive congrats there. A big thanks to all the lads for making the effort and also for helping to set up and take down the court.

On a very sad note, our condolences to the family and friends of Dennis Retter who passed away recently. Dennis was former captain of the English casting team and a long time member of UKSF. A man in his seventies who could still regularly cast 200m plus. He was an absolute gentleman who loved life, the sport and the craic in equal measure. It was a pleasure to know and cast with him both in the UK and here in Ireland. RIP the great man.
