Great casting rods, quite stiff compared to the modern HSTs, more equal to the Evo versions IMO and being powerpointed as opposed to the norm fulcrum butt sets therm apart. But there were a few diff runs of blue HST in the very early batches, can you remember when you bought them? are they deff blue and not blue-y green?

Hi I got them back in 1998 when I was working in the uk , got them in a shop in Bristol , veals , moved about and back now settled in Waterford , yeh they are blue , just took one out to check them , they feel nice , never really got into casting but the guy tolde they were a good rod to cast cod nails in the channel !!!

Thanks for all the advice and the messages guys ! Looks like I will get them built up for fixed spool and enjoy them as they are a better rod than the modern version , thanks

You cant go wrong with the minima guides super lite and they don't break.
nearly all the rods i build now for fix or multiple are with minimas guides.
i don't know how they would hold up with braids though if that's what your going to be using on your fix spool
