its not how fast you cast , distance comes from how fast the lead is travelling at ! you can move a rod fast and still have quite slow lead speed . and if the rod has not fully loaded to the butt all lead speed slows up as the tip only recovers unaided by the butt, which helps gives the cast its speed . thats why a fully loaded softer actioned rod will recover quicker with more power and speed to the lead . on a high swing type cast .
