Pendulum Practice TXL

Personally Stevie, I'd have stuck it out with the Full Tournament for a while, maybe to the end of the year or so. But, then again, you're a big lad, so I reckon once you get it fully dialled in, the TXL will be the rod for you.
What I wouldn't do is go back to the FT now tho. I'd stick it out with the TXL.

imo it has alot to do with the style of cast someone has. I would consider my cast to be quite fast and would like it to be faster and plan to develop my cast this way. so in relation to this I went for the txl.

in relation to the power aspect in my opinion power generally refers to a rod’s stiffness/resistance to bending. saying that i am not getting no were near the full capabilities of the txl because i believe i am not getting into the butt and flexing the butt to release the power at the end of the cast and i believe this has to do with my final 'hit' of the rod.

sometimes you got to take that step to see if a rod is going to work out. hopefully it will

its not how fast you cast , distance comes from how fast the lead is travelling at ! you can move a rod fast and still have quite slow lead speed . and if the rod has not fully loaded to the butt all lead speed slows up as the tip only recovers unaided by the butt, which helps gives the cast its speed . thats why a fully loaded softer actioned rod will recover quicker with more power and speed to the lead . on a high swing type cast .

I know this and thats why I have been working on my timing so I can load the rod correctly. I choose the txl because of my height, build and speed. I know that my timing will (hopefully) come. If it doesn't sure I aint going to loose sleep over it. Is it not better (If you can) to fully load a stiffer more powerful rod than a softer one?

haha - when did i not accept or agree with alot of what people said on the feedback given on my performance casting the rod.

instead i found myself trying to defend why i actually got the rod instead of criticism on my cast.

big stiff rods make heroes out of us all because they feel better in the hand , when in all honesty it takes far more skill and techneque to cast a softer rod well , the softer rods actually show you in pure distance if your casting well or not . imho

im not trying to be heroic casting the txl, I just want to get more distance from a casting rod whether it be a txl or any other rod. All I know is im up 15 yards on my average cast. certain rods suit certain people.

Confidence plays a big part in casting too, and if you're liking a rod and feel comfortable with it, then it can only be a good thing, so if you like the TXL stick with it.
Stephen, you say you're up around 15 yards average. Maybe you are just casting better than you were a few months ago?

On another note of my own thoughts, you can analyse a cast all day long, and decide whether it looks good or not, or look at photos and think, 'wow check out the bend in the rod', or 'crap I've only bent the 1st half of the tip'. In my opinion all of that is irrelevant, it's where the lead lands that counts.

I've seen some truly awful looking casts but sometimes there's huge distance there. And I've seen some very leisurely casts that go for miles (obviously good lead speed). It's a funny sport.

a bit more anger in the hit perhaps, otherwise your cast looks pretty alright

standing side on to the cast direction and rotating your upper body to the swing position will enable easier transfer of power

the cast can be executed in on step, making it smoother

personally I found I was less inclined cut across the arc

Been doing that myself Lee. I used to face 180 to the oche and 2 steps wasn't bringing me round enough. Tried doing 3, but that was a laugh, so I'm back to leaning round more to swing position,.

you say you want to cast even faster, dont think thats a good idea as you'll end up pulling the lead out of position and snapping off more offen, there is a saying "slow in fast out" its what i have learn to do, not all the one speed, build up the speed after the target is sighted and the lead and rod are inline
