Bearing for a CS rocket

Fri Oct 28, 2011 11:27 am

I lived in London back in the 90's where I used to cast with the east kent casters, but since I moved back to Kerry in 2000 I haven't even practised any casting . I'd like to get back into it again but have found all the bearings on my rocket and mag-elite have seized up.
Will any 4x10x4 bearing do or is it better to get abu bearings? Any recommendations to where to buy them?
Thanks
Mark

Any 4x10x4 wll get you back running.

bocabearings . com do a nice ABEC 5 variation with ceramic bearings which is better. I think most of the casting guys use this bearing. They are good value as well.

Hi Mark,
as MAC said Boca do some very good 4x10x4 hybrid ceramics that have served us all very well but if your just getting back into things just start with some standard Abu,s they are usually Abec 3s or Standard NMB,s and go from there once your back in the swing of things you can start mucking about with faster ones.. Stainless steel bearings as you prob know do just as well as the newer ceramics in the right hands...

Thanks for the replies .I found a supplier on ebay that does both the cheap bog standard bearings,
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... SA:IE:1123
and for when I,m a bit better , they also do the ceramic hybrid bearings,
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Fishing-Reel-4x1 ... 1e4dc27ca0.
And for when I win the Lotto,
