Shockleader and mainline diameter.

Hi Lads,
I was wondering about the diameters used during the SCI comps? Do they have to be a certain size? A certain lenght of shockleader? I'd need plenty practice and about a 100m to compete but it'd be nice to know what was required. Finally as there is somtimes a bit of a discrepency in the diameters is there a particular brand used for the comps? Thanks in advance

Chris.

the 4 leads we cast are
100grm on .25mm
125grm on .28mm
150grm on .31mm
175grm on .35mm
leader .80mm

any brand of line you personally like is allowed as long as it is monofilament and the mm is correct for the weight being cast, as andrew has posted above

for safety reasons more than anything else, tapered shockleaders are not permitted

casting leaders should have at least eight turns on the reel spool when ready to cast

the length of drop to the lead is generally around your hand placement on the upper grip for pendulum or back casting, although this could be longer or even a little shorter-especially if your off the ground casting

:D

Thanks for the info lads I must load up a reel for a few casts. The video by you scannerman is a serious bit of stuff fair play! Might even see ye on the Hill if miracles occur and my cast improves enough!
