7HT Mag

Postby JAMMYJOEY » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:31 pm

Lads, I got one of these new recently. It's a great reel and very smooth. The only thing is, when i cast, even with the mags on full i'm getting line lift. Any ideas on how to stop this ? I'd like to be able to wind the mags off to try it but at the moment i'm worried i'll end up with the worst birdy ever.

Cheers

Don't have one myself, but I've heard they have more than enough braking even for fishing as standard. Try reducing the line level a bit or a drop of oil in each bearing. Maybe the bearings are dried out. Or clean out bearings and try a thicker oil.

I suppose it could have been sitting in the shop for quite a while so the bearings may need a drop of oil. Having looked at the instructions for oiling them it should be a bit of fun lol.

As Stevie said there is more than enough braking on them, clean out the bearings and try some RF red, also make sure the end float knob on the right hand side isnt too losse. After thats done cast it on full mag and reduce it by one click untill it starts gettin hairy than come back a click or two and you should be set..

Aye it's cool till you have to take the scissors to a reel that you've filled with new line just hours before
