Henry's is by far the best port of call over here for casting needs, when we restarted the whole casting buzz i approached him and he was more than happy to get the gear "WE" needed in stock,,ie- half kilo/kilo spools of sakuma, shockleader, proper DCA leads (not that RT s**t ), heavy duty lead links, long tails, large stock of Zircon/SIC rings and other rod building materials, reel spares, oils, etc...

And he was also more than happy help us out in the form of continued sponsorship (a big thank you for that  ). Its shop owners like Henry that are willing to listen to his customers and act on it "then and there" that keep myself and others comming back, not the usuall crap "oh yeah ill get that sorted for you" and never see it materialise

Henrys Tackle has everything you need for casting, lack of demand accounts for poor stocking of said items.

I agree with Andrew surley a shop on the southside of the city or other shops in the greater dublin/wicklow area would stock items they clearly will sell. It is a hassel to get the right lines, leaders, weights, reel parts etc localy, there is a definate gap in the market, some shop should grab the bull by the horns and go for it. I go to England two or three times a year to vist family I have living over there and buy new reels, line and trace making stuff we cant get here, and i always have a list of things to get for mates we cant get here, and its only over the water  Last year i bought a Diawa 7ht mag for £130 brand new in England in a shop called Danson Angling in Kent, They mostly sold carp gear and still were able to sell this reel which goes for between €200 and €250 here.

stuff is easy to get ,fishing tackle is very expensive in this country but then again so is everything else  prices from one shop to another can varey hugely and one look online would make anyone sick, then again if you buy everything online and your local shop closes are you gonna wait days and days every time you want a few hooks or swivells and a score of lug??

viking tackle are ordering in sakuma line in the diameter thats needed for casting along with powerflex leader :D so fair play to them for doing that i would much rather spend money in tackle shops now if they could only get varivas hooks i wouldnt half to buy on line anymore

have to agree with roger and shane here, fairplay to viking for listening and getting in what we asked for,
my preference is to shop local, and of course im going to pay extra compaired to an online shop, as the local place has over heads most of these online shops dont,
i have my own shop and there is no way i could compete with online shop prices and still survive in this country,
so personally ill be shopping locally

I do 90% of my buying in my local shop(viking), and as the Shane says they listen and are getting in what we need. What would we do without our local shop? Think about it saturday afternoon, competition on sunday morning and you discover your out of size 4 match hooks  no time to mail order, pop down to your local shop get some hooks and even a bit of advice or inside news on the venue being fished  Or the lads give you a buzz at 4 pm saying there going fishing that evening, no time to dig your own bait pop into your local shop 20 lug 20 rag 10 crab happy days 8) big Mail order firms are putting pressure on the tackle shops and ill continue to support my local shop.
