Sandymount Strand is an excellent venue. Casting events have been held there in the past. Plenty of parking in the car park and walk out a few hundred yards and you're well away from all known forms of life (bar the crabs and seagulls...)

Colm i wouldn't be able to get out there as easily as i would dollymount or nearby park!!! if all decide that sandymount is a good place to have it then i will certainly make the effort!! i do agree though that the beach here is usually desolate. could we have a list of people and perhaps a venue of chioce from each that plan to be there? would yee prefer sandymount??

i am going to say 6 o clock. the tide was a little high there today so the extra hour will help. if u can only make it at 7 then that's fine! all welcome. i will put up the markers in the sand. don't worry if you can't make it- i'll just go fishin!!

down the end, left of the statue on the beach...oh yeah!

sso what kind of distances were you getting with that wind behind you ? :)

unfortunately the wind was hittin us from the left hand side. if i had of set up the 'pitch' with the wind behind us the tide could have cut our time short. my best was about 170 which is bad considering it was a plain lead with the breaking backed off. i can get a bait out 150+ with the breaks on full. will definately do another one but if the weathers that bad it'll be postponed! the lads got over the hundred yard marker anyway, don't know exactly how far though!!! hitting the 200 hundred yard marker just seemed impossible!!! itching to get out and do it again. i won't rest til i pass it and have a witness!!!

should try using a large float(bout 6-7"s) when practising casting, just crimped on the shockleader above the lead..
