fixedspoolcasting

hi to all ,need some help, i use a penn surfmaster850 and a 13 ft daiwa sandstorm, reel loaded with 15lb sufix cynergy, and a tapered shockleader, best cast is 130 yards, wondering if their was any videos on casting with a fs setup or some tips from legends like urselves, i cast with the weight on the ground or overhead thump :?: :oops:

Two key points when casting like that with a fixed spool.
1. Lock down the spool during the cast to avoid line slip and burning/ cutting your finger.
2. Use a finger guard

You can get them from the chemists, there a leather finger cover, it stops the line cutting through your finger, think there only a few quid but well worth it imo.

how do you lock down a spool?! i didn't understand :oops:

Locking down the spool is as simple as tightening the drag so that it cannot turn.
Only problem is that you need to loosen it off when fishing otherwise you run the risk of snapping the main line on a decent fish.
