Casting Results From Sunday

Postby kstaff » Mon Mar 10, 2008 10:24 pm

After anxiously watching the weather all week a decision was made on Saturday night to chance it Sunday in Fairyhouse. Hoping for a dry day with good winds, we kinda got away with it!

A couple of heavy showers with hailstones and a swirling wind made things just about bareable at times. When the sun came out it was nice though. 4 men under an umbrella ain't pretty!! :D

4 people attended, big thanks to Marty who came all the way from Bangor to attend!

Results as follows

Paddy Cunningham on 150g-232.10 yards / 175g-237.04 yards (PB)
Marty Harrison on 125g-261.75 yards (PB)/ 150g-246.60 yards
Andrew Gormley on 150g-258.53 yards
Keith Stafford on 150g-220.91 yards (PB)

We hope to have another meet in the next 2-3 weeks so anyone interested in joining for this year keep an eye on this forum for details.

Venue will be Fairyhouse Racecourse
Casting on Sundays (Saturday not an option)
Subs for year will be 40 euro.
At least 10 meetings this year / approx 6 hours a meet
Less than a euro an hour. You wouldn't get a McDonalds burger for that! :D

Regards.

Fintan, we have to fit in around Fairyhouse,s fixtures! sundays are the only days we can get as the market is on so we dont have the added hassle of paying a days wage to the caretaker to open up and lock up after us.
Kraken, as for heading down south we have spoken about this before, if anyone can secure a venue down there we are more than willing to hold events elsewhere. Its a nightmare trying to get a venue as im sure you will find out..

Hey Keith,

realise we have spoken about this before - memory not gone altogether yet :P :P :P :P

Was only making the point that it was spoken about that it would be looked into the possibility of organising some sessions down here among us southern bound but that no sessions or lessons had been organised.

I paid €40 for membership last year and didnt get to cast a single lead on the court for the entire year - now i know this isnt anybodys fault that I couldn't make it to the meets but my own but....
even to get a few lessons organised down here on some beach for instance the cunnigar which is as flat and as deserted as you will get a beach would be worth anything.

I made the point before and I'll make it again - I wasted my money on the sub for last year.
Don't get me wrong - I enjoy casting and would dearly love to get better at it and improve both my style and distance - I 've gone as far as I can go (I th0ink) on my own. Nothing would please me more to be able to make the meets but in my present circumstances thats not going to happen.

Sorry if I went on a bit of a rave - just feeling left out.....

How Ya John,

I hear ya, the Sunday situation isn't ideal. We will (promise) get down our way sooner rather than later even if it's just a few of us and belt a few all day. There's alot of people who couldn't make any last year either but we're trying our best to accomodate as many as possible. I know how Bertie must feel! In the end only a small handful made the meets we had.

If we get you another 40 yards before June will that ease the pain? :D

I don't want you getting too good though, I've a new rod's ego to protect. :D :D

Chat to you soon.
