Zziplex ZTi

Thought I would post this clip of me using the ZTi for the first time.
Rod felt very good and distances were in the 220 meter range .

I think that I am still hitting it early but will work on that over the weekend and see how things progress.

Hi Jeremy, i dont have one myself ,,,,,yet  ! but i was very surprised when i had my 1st chuck with andrews, im usually not a big fan of butts that flex but i did think it was super sweet with a nice kick of it at the end.. very tempted now.

Won't be long before you have the whole range.

I had another session with the ZTi and was very happy with it casting both the 125 & 150 gram weights.

Best distance was on my second cast with the 125 that would have been in the 230+ range, the 150 grain weight was not too far hehind . I did notice however that I need to stay relaxed as when i got eager and tried to hit it harder the timing went out the window and distances suffered accordingly.

I will post up the footage to get some more feedback and am looking forward to next weekends practice session.

Nice Jeremy,

Maybe the first cast looks a fraction early, but the second looks spot on....
HAven't had a go with the ZTI myself so I'm not sure what the blank in like. Dod you order it built, or did you build it yourself?

Must try get out this afternoon a get a couple of casts in myself.

Mac ,

I order just the blanks and build the rods up myself. This one has the guides just taped on as I mainly use it for comp.

Here is the second video footage of me with the rod casting both 125 gram & 150.

All feedback welcome. :D

Well i picked up a mint condition ZTI second hand and am very impressed, i was out last weekend on the 150g and it felt great, i even managed a few casts over 200m and that was into a headwind 5-10mph, was casting off the reducer so it brings it up to 14ft9, and at first i felt it was a tad too long for me to trun over with any great deal of speed as most of my rods are between 13/13.6 but they seemed to get away ok. Have you tried yours off the reducer? if so thoughts?? How far do you mount the reel up the blank? I will be out this weekend to try 125/175g and see how she goes but so far so good

Paddy ,

I haven't cast the ZTi of the reducer as I don't like over long rods as I feel they are a bit unbalanced for me as I am only 5'6".

I haven't been able to cast for the last few weeks as I did some damange to by back and then smashed my thumb in my wife's car door.
Makes gripping the rod quite painfull.

Hopefully I will get outr this weekend and see what I can do , I will take it nice and slow to ensure that I don't aggrevate the problems.

Hey, look on the bright side: it could have been your zzippy, not your thumb!

Your 100% correct on that as getting top flight rods from the UK over here is not easy, the thumb healing up is a small price to pay.

Here is somemore video clips from last Sundays practice with the ZTi.
