well then lads, as usual all constructive critisim is taken on board.

was using the carbon metal and a 7ht turbo. was getting some alright distance and good compression in the rod.

things i have alredy picked up on are

1:bending my right arm too much

2: im doin the riverdance while casting

any tips on how to help keep the right arm straight? i find it nearly impossible.

Hi Alex i think your results would really improve if you hit the weights BIG time. The rod really didn't flex at all don't take this wrong but why don't you try a lighter action rod and give it HELL

not bad alex, the improvments continue,,,but you do have the same prob i still suffer with the odd time  , your head is staying down as you come round which pulls the whole cast down and you end up chopping it, try look up just as the lead passes you on the in-swing to get your target and stay with it all the way around till you ready to hit it, also as you let the lead climb behind you it looks like it just falls out of the sky for a tad as you let the rod drift just a little before the hit which looses any early compression. I start with my right arm much higher and my left about chest hight so when i come round my left is nearly in front of my face but keeping them as far away from you as poss this will help make a bigger arc and generate some more power which should load the rod a bit deeper for you and as steve said really go for the hit at the end a bit of speed can go a long way, it just takes time/practice to sort out the left arm, remember out and up!! just in my opinion..

believe me thats quite a bend for me casting the carbon metal. a couple of months ago i couldnt even bend it half that much.

also, that is hitting it as hard as i could. because of my size and weight i find it difficult to put any more power in. :(

that picture also shows where im falling down in the cast

thanks for the tips guys, i will put them into practise next time i go out. :D

Just my 2 cents worth..
your left hand/arm are playing no part in the cast. here is a fantastic clip of roger mortimore showing the basics of the otg cast, it will show you how to use your arms and head, note how high up the lefthand gets, and how straight the arms are.
the pendulm bit is just added on right at the start of the otg, all the rest is exactly the same.

Hi Ya Alex, Paddy can give you the how and why of what next to do but I think the cast looked very well, nice and smooth. I use the CM too and find that sometimes it won't flex but when it does the lead really flies for me even on the 125g, it does have a sweet spot and once you find it it will melt in your hands so keep at it, things are looking good!

How are you getting on with the 150G on .35?
Try the 125 on .31 nad I bet it puts another 20 yards on ya! Can't be far off 200 now.
