Losing contact with the lead?

Postby fishinmidget » Fri Jun 22, 2007 8:26 pm

hi all, just went out for a session today and i was trying to pendulum and i kept losing contact with the lead on the backswing just before i hit it    . it was really putting me off and in the end i had to go back to Ariel otg.

any thoughts on what might be happening?

i have been hitting the pendulum fine up until this session.

without seeing it its hard to be sure but "IMO" its either your backswing is not smooth enough or your drifting back with the lead, hence its falling out of the sky before your follow through picks it up again.. Everyone gets little probs now and then that need tweeking some days are just better than others, keep it up though alex as the distance will come when all the minor probs are ironed out..
Also me personally i would only cast 4oz on 0.28 as the line will be leaving the reel slightly slower than on .35 and as thats the rated dia for this lead. Wont be too long before you bust the 200

Personally I found that when this happened to me, my right arm was dropping too low. I was doing this without even noticing.... Trying to hit the lead harder....

May well be your timing was out that day. I find when this happens to me I shorten the drop so I feel the lead more and will gradually lengthen the drop as I get it right again.
