Postby fishinmidget » Sat May 12, 2007 5:39 pm

hi all, i fancied trying this little weight just for my own interest.

First off all gear. i have a fixed spool(pic below) and rods coming out of my ears. if you would tell me what you use i can see if i have it/an alternative.

And lastly, where do i get the plugs and what is the min line/shock?

Thanks.

as far as i know braid aint allowed in comps as it is very hard to measure the diameter of it.

Hi Alex,

The reel should be fine for the 18g. line regs are .25 for the main line and a .35 leader. Plugs can be harder to come by and to get the proper ICSF ones you will need to send to the states (what we did) for them or our club can sort you out with a few for a small fee to cover costs. Rods are a personal choice as ever, if you have a light beach/bass rod or carp/pike style rod give them a bash and see how you get on.

Re: braid its not down to inaccuracy on the manufactures part as all lines are measured with a micrometer at a tournament, the prob with braid is its profile. Its generally not round so depending on what was it goes across the jaws of the mic you can get wildly diff readings.

Remember the distances dont count on the 18g if you got wind, thats the icsf rules im afraid. Happy plugging.
