Cork Harbour Light Line Comp - Sun 17th Jan

Postby Pat » Mon Jan 11, 2016 6:03 pm

The second in the this winter's series of Cobh SAC's Light Lines Competitions is on this Sunday coming - 17th Jan. If you are interested in fishing send me a PM before Weds evening.

The fishing at our last comp was excellent with an average of 76 fish per angler - plenty of good dabs, and whiting....and there was a good show of codling aswell!!!! There are signs that codling are starting to show in the harbour.

Excellent prizes are on offer again, courtesy of Shamrock Tackle. We have three Alcedo Pride Soft Tip Boat Rods, an Ocean Pacific Mariner 7ft Travel Rod, a Fladen Chieftain 30 Multiplier Reel, a Helix FS10000 Fixed Spool Reel, and Ultimate CL8000 Multiplier. (The overall league winner will win a fine 4.5m Artico Rod).

To book in send me a pm or ring Mary Geary, Cobh SAC, on 021-4812167. Mary is also taking bookings for bait - boxes of rag, lug, or mackerel.

The boats will leave Kennedy Pier Cobh at 9am. Registration will be from 8:30am - on the pier.

Rules are simple, its a fun comp. The scorecard will be the one used in the National Fish-Offs out of Cork Harbour over the last few years. Min fish size 18cm. Mainline max breaking strain 15lb. Rigs, snoods, and shockleader can be any strength. 3 hooks max. No limit on bait.

Lines down at 9:30am. There will be one move during the day at 12:30pm. Everyone moves 2 spaces to the right (we're trying to keep it as simple as possible). Fishing will resume at 12:45pm.

Lines up at 3:30pm. Prize giving and results in Commodore Hotel, Cobh at 5:30pm at the latest.
See you all on Sunday!

I've attached the results below. It was a tough day - fishing was good but the weather wasn't. The gale that was due for teatime hit us about midday! If it was anywhere else other than Cork Harbour we'd have had to return to base. However, we persevered.

Our next comp is on Valentine's weekend. I'll post up further details as it gets closer.
