the date has been set for the biggest ray in the bay 2015,the fishing competition is on Saturday 22nd august
we are working on sponsorship at the moment and will let you know what the prizes are at a later date
if any tackle maker,tackle dealer or tackle shop or anyone else would like to sponsor a prize please contact me,in return we will help promote your business any way we can
all money from this competition will go to the rnli lifeboat charity

Galway Atlantaquaria, National Aquarium of Ireland http://www.nationalaquarium.ie/ have opened a new tackle shop called salthill aquatics

and to celebrate this they have given us 200 euro in vouchers for the biggest ray in the bay
they will also be supplying us with bait on the day
they have mackerel,blueys,sandeel,crab,lugworm,squid,razor in stock

we are thinking about letting lads fish 2 rods in this comp as we have been given a few prizes that we can use for other species and stuff like that,i would like to know what people think of the idea?

i think its a good idea, just that the ray prizes are best and you only start looking at other prizes if you dont get in the top ray ones - this would stop someone sweeping the board

the other species would be something to tip away on if your having no joy on the ray front (like me last year!)

Galway aquarium will be supplying frozen bait on the day,they will have Sandeel (Large and Medium) Bluey, Razors, Squid, Black Lug, and Mackerel,the bait is top quality,they are putting a order in on the 14th of August for bait and will be bringing it out to clifden on the morning of the comp

The bait is top quality I had it with me for 4 days driving around in the car and the wife never complained about a smell and she could smell a fart in a hurricane lol

I asked Galway aquarium to bring out a small selection of fishing tackle like weights,hooks bait elastic things like that incase lads are stuck for a few bits in the morning

The prize giving will be held in the boardwalk cafe beside the Rnli lifeboat station on sat evening
All returned cards will be accepted from 18:00/18:45

it only takes one fish to win the main prize just make sure its the biggest in the bay
The sign on for the event will be at
Sweeney Oil service station from 10:00am
The prize giving will be held afterwards in the boardwalk cafe beside the Rnli lifeboat station beach road

we also have prizes for species,junior anglers,smallest fish and for people who don't catch fish
