ECRSAC MA#3 Old Bawn 12th May (Sunday)

Postby alby » Wed May 08, 2013 6:08 pm

Nice early morning fellas - Old Bawn, Fishing 8am - 1pm (3rd Leg 2012 Master Angler)

We'll check in from 6:45 - 7 at the sand dune behind the beach. The beach is halfway between Morriscastle & Courtown and the turn off is beside an old graveyard & church. It's fairly well sign posted.

Wind is forecast out of the south west so it should put a bit of a roll on & a few fish hopefully. Reports of late have been good with a few bass & small smoothies showing up.

Hope ye faired better than us Andy,

Fishing was relatively poor given the favourable conditions for us, a good burst of weed early in the comp too, not sure where that came from? Flats caught over the gutter on the down slope, very few fish caught in really close for some reason?

1st – Chris Scanlon (8 Fish)
2nd – Gordy “The cod” Hardman (7 Fish)
3rd – Clive Ivory (6 Fish)

Flat – 32cm Flounder – Gordy
Round – 39cm Smoothie - Clive

it was the same for us fishing was very slow most of us had in around the 6 to 8 fish mark with the lads who were way out picking up I think 14 to 16 fish. That weed was really annoying. I landed a 48 cm bass so I was well happy, first one of the year for me.couple of pup smoothies caught which is a good sign.
That hill is a killer

Fished ballinoulart the next morning same thing small flounder and the annoying weed
