You need to be a member of a club to fish club competitions unless they are opens

You still have to be a member of a IFSA affiliated club to fish IFSA opens in Ireland.

Currently the only opens I know of in Ireland that are not IFSA sanctioned are the Daiwa pairs run by SAMF and EFSA`s Winter Beach Festival. There may be more than these though.

You can get a day pass, you do not need to be a member of an ifsa club to get a day pass.

I forget how much they are - either €20 or €25
Then you have to pay your entry fee to the competition
They are to make sure you are covered for insurance purposes.

However most clubs membership is €50 - €60, with entries anywhere from €10 - €20, so unless you are only only are only going to fish a couple of competitions it would probably work out cheaper for you to join a club near you
