Never to late...
The Munster match circuit could be the largest in the country IF ! it was run properly...

Fishing decent venues at the correct time of year and correct tides.
(Youghal venues are amongst the best in Ireland , yet they are not widely used for opens)

All opens should pay out 90% minimum of takings (except fund raisers)

Size limits should never be greater than 20cm.

Start a Pairs and Team event run through the course of the League,
Give lads more to fish for & keep an interest throughout the year.

Golden peg pools , more big fish pools

Possibly change the title of the League

Just my own thoughts on the matter....

Dave.

well dave strongly agree on a few points but no can be expected to run an open on 90% pay out and think its very unfair for anglers to expect that. of the four main clubs in my local area 3 are in big trouble money wise and need to be making a few pound on opens to cover costs. its not as if the money made on an open is used by any one person but it goes back in to all the anglers of the host club.in our club we keep membership fee as low as we can at 80euro by far the lowest in the area and if we didnt make a few pound off the opens we would fold.
On the other hand a club taking in good lot of money and getting sponcered prizes or really cheap one is a load of b*****Ks and unfair to anglers who pay good money.
the name should make no difference ????
the last good few years we gave out over 1000 euros worth of fishing tackle prizes in each open, over 50-60 anglers dont think there is anything wrong with that.
THIS YEAR WE ARE GIVING ALL CASH PRIZES WITH 300 FIRST OVER ALL AND 3 ZONES OF 3 PRIZES PER ZONE
WE WILL BE FISHING CHEEKPOINT STRAND WERE A CLUB COMPETITION FISHED A WHILE BACK WAS WON WITH 43 FISH.
IT IS ON SUN APRIL11TH 12-4PM AT CHEEKPOINT STRAND IT IS A MUNSTER CLOSED BUT IS AN OPEN ALSO, ANY ONE INTERESTED GIVE ME A BUZZ.

how many members in the club barry cant understand how a club with membership fees of €80 can be in enough financial difficulty to be relying on opens for finances. i think that cash prizes is the way to go because everyone can see exactly what is being taken in registration and then what goes out in prizes

no i was not in the prizes but tom and alan where you would of wanted some going to beat them with53 and 50 fish. :D :D :D :D still i was happy with 32 fish good nights fishing and good craic.

.when you take your 80 membership fee and break it down to over 50 to regesture an angler with ifsa leaves you less then 30 euro per angler 8 + a xmas competition and 3 prizes per competition plue at end of year pay master angler entry and a few pound traveling expences 80 ant a lot some clubs are up to 130 a year.id like to know what clubes in other areas are pay and how they keep above board?

50 euro most clubs in east cork an give cash prizes 75% of takings on the night as far as i know their all above water

Most of the wexford clubs pay out 100% of the money taken in at opens (less levies) & club membership ranges from 40 to 70 euro .
Our club has run 2 opens a year for the last 5 years with no money made from the competition entry fee, if your club needs to make money at your opens run a raffle the majority anglers will trow in a few euro and most don't even know what the prizes are.
Our club also keeps 10% of the money taken in at each of our club competitions over the year this money covers the master angler fees & expenses.
i fished a leg of the east cork league on the slob bank last year and i must say i was not over joyed at the prizes on offer the one i won i still in the box in the shed.
what I'm trying to say is that i did not travel to cork to try and make lots of money i went because i was looking for some good fishing and some crack with my fellow anglers before & after the event ,but its nice to get a few euro back at the end to help with the expenses incurred over the weekend eg B&B diesel and entry fee.

And by the way I'm sure one of the prizes from the Saturday night comp on the bank went to wexford :D :D :D

and here was me thinking it was the taking part that counts not the prizes

i think the finest angling prize i ever won was collective essemble of a luczade t-shirt, lara croft mouse pad and a guiness cap. if ever there was an iccentive to try harder that was it :|

im getting lads from what your saying ye pay out membership fee say 50 euro and then pay out at each competition then.witch if a 1euro a competition would work out expensive.you take you need to run 6 or 7 competitions year for a master angler witch at a tenner a go is 60 or 70 for competitions plus 50 to join witch is 110 or 120 for the year?
our membership is 80 euro nothing paided at any of the competitions.most clubs in waterford are just one off payments for the year.
if you have a club with 15 members even charging 110 euros a year it can not cover costs witch happened with a club here this year.
i think making a few pound in other ways like opens and using this funding to drop the cost of the club anglers yearly fee is good esp these days.
really dont see how clubs can hold an open at 100%pay out and never herd of it before.

Ok how about this the angler pays his or her membership to their club and Federation and just fish for points no prizes in the local club match, the way i see most anglers are fishing for points for the master angler...Our Club gave out 100 euros per Master Angler comp last year ie 1st E50 2nd E30 3rd E20
