With the stunning backdrop of the Mourne and Cooley mountains, the Loughs Agency’s will be holding its annual Saltwater Festival on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2008.
On Saturday (10am – 4pm) there will be FREE workshops taking place at Greenore Point with professionals delivering tuition on beach casting, fly casting and fly tying as well as the life cycle of Bass. On Sunday (10am – 3.30pm) participants can put their skills into action at the shore fishing competition at Ballagan Point.
These events are suitable for adults and juniors making ideal for a family day out. There will be lots of top prizes and plenty of opportunity to learn the art of shore fishing.
In previous years the festival welcomed anglers from England and Scotland. However, last year the winner was a local junior angler Gary Murphy who was presented with the perpetual cup and £100’s worth of angling equipment.
Saltwater fly tying expert Terry Jenner, from London, will also be visiting the festival to share his assistance and advice with the novice right through to the expert.
