Irish Tropical Fish Show

Hello to all

I know that this is not strictly fishing but it is fish based. I am aware that people who like to partake in a spot of fishing also enjoy keeping them at home and a lot of anglers will have an aquarium of some description with a couple of odds and ends swimming about in it.

This weekend the Irish Tropical Fish Society (ITFS) is holding the first Irish Open Fish show in 5 years. The ITFS is a small group (30 or so) of like minded people from around dublin that get together once a month to chin-wag about fish keeping and related topics. At the moment we are the only registered fish society in the country. The show is entirely non-profit and is primarily based on trying to increase the number of members in the club and the public's interest and education in fish keeping.

The idea behind the fish show is something very similar to a dog show. People bring in their fish (Saturday between 5-9pm) and on Sunday morning they will be judged. The show is then opened to the public (Sunday 1-6pm) and the wide variety of little and large fish can be viewed. Also, on the day there will be a number of the larger pet store displaying there wares so it would be an ideal situation to pick up some of the basic supplies. Even if you don't keep fish and you are only thinking of starting up a small aquarium there will be plenty of experience fish keepers there that you can seek advice from.

The interest in fish keeping in Ireland is a fraction of what it is in other countries so I would be very grateful if you know of anyone who has an interest in keeping fish could you please forward them a link to this thread.

If you would like more information you can PM me on this site or you can visit the fish show website for more information eg. directions, entry fee's etc.....

No problems here Deno, some questions have been asked in the recent past in relation to fish keeping and saltwater aquariums etc so its obvious there is some interest in the aforementioned within the forum.
