well, there must be a lot of money available to anglers down there at that rate..pool this pool that etc...
the norm up here is to pay club membershi which vaires, but i know if u were to charge anymore than £50 u would simply fold!!
we charge £3 per comp entry in club, do a raffle at our only open, do a 75% payout at opens.pay master angler entry, and expenses from that, plus we dont have a massive membership. working together as a club raises money when required, no one interested in fishing for cash prizes, or any prizes in general, its about going out and enjoying the fishing.
as for focing all opens to be 90% payout, well, that will simply spell the end of a lot of clubs due to the fact that they depend on takings from the entries at opens on top of raffle takings to run and survive as some clubs ave very few members.

it seems that at opens the main thing to attract anglers is penn points now, not so much the prize table.

sponsorship of prizes is harder to find as we are in a recession, so therefore to try to attract anglers to come out, make it more affordable, ie drop entry fees as low as possible.

there is chat of trying to get a new league of some sort going up here, the only way it will work to get anglers out is simple, penn points and cheap entry fee where possible.
