Was down there last Saturday 14/10/06 on Dick Hayes's boat, John fished alongside us for most of the day so would have been catching the same as us.

There was a SE 4 blowing so the sea was lumpy all day, but the fishing was good. There was 7 aboard our boat, bait was the usual Ragworm - though some of us had Peeler Crab, Frozen Mackeral & Squid.

There was only one fresh Mackeral caught all day (same as our last outing a few weeks back), but there was plenty of Cod, Ballen Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Coalfish and Pouting on the drift, but surprising not much Pollack.

Green lures tipped with Ragworm or Mackeral seemed to be working for the Cod. The Cuckoo Wrasse liked the Crab and the Ballen Wrasse as usual went mad for the Ragworm.

All the Codling/Cod were good sizes with quite a few which required the net to get them aboard. The Coalfish were small with none getting above the 38cm mark, they all seemed to be around the 33cm - 36cm size.

There were some good sized Cuckoo Wrasse also with 2 which were around speciem size.

We had not expected the fishing to be so good, Dick had told us that it was quite slow over the past week or two, but we proved him wrong (when we got on the fish we removed the engine keys so he could not move us off the spot - joke).

Say hello to John for us if you get out.
