Skerries

Afternoon folks,

Will be launching a boat for the first time from Skerries Harbour on Friday, was wondering does anyone know of a safe spot to park the car and trailer while we are out?

Also planning on heading out around the back of the islands for Pollack & Mackerel, good or bad idea?

TIA

There's a carpark just up the hill from the slip. Fishing around the islands can be ok but we've had better luck out at the rockabill lighthouse!

That's grand thanks, wasn't sure about leaving the trailer in that car park. Small-ish boat and first time having her out at sea so I wanted to stay a bit closer to shore for now, will definitely check out rockabill in future though. would you advise anchoring or drifting while fishing rockabill?

We usually drift fish close in for wrasse, pollock, mackerel, codling, whiting, etc. We only ever anchored out there once about 100m to the south and just got a few dogfish but we know others do well there at anchor.
