Hi all.
Long time reader of the sire, first time poster. Great site.
I was offered a 17ft Wilson flyer to buy, for a bit of angling. She is fairly rough, needs a complete over haul, which I don't mind doing.
My query is, is the many members that have or used this type of boat for sea angling, and if so how would you rate them.
Tia

Look at Tafishing on YouTube, he has one and does all sorts of fishing from it, looks a good boat

The WF is a solid boat. It will go well if equipped with a decent engine. It will slam a bit being a dory but you'll forgive it.
You'd want to check out the floor and make sure that it is not soft in any areas and make sure that there is not water lodged in the inner hull etc.
They are being made again in the UK. There is a Facebook page there and Gary is a very helpful chap. https://www.facebook.com/wilsonflyerboatsuk/

Thanks for the info.
This boat has been tied up for a year in the local pier. Nothing at all has been done with her. I'm going to have her lifted out of the water, and go through her for damages ect, before I make my desicion on her. I'm not overly worried about the work needed to be done, to get her tidyed up, as long as she's structural sound.

Thanks for the info.
This girl has been left tied up for over a year in the local pier, with nothing done with her. I'm going to get her lifted out of the water, to run through her fully and properly. As long as she's structurally sound id be happy. The rest of the restoration wouldn't be a big job to do.
I'm hoping to put a 25hp on her, that would be plenty for me, as I don't have far to travel to my fishing spots.
Should know more on her situation in the coming weeks.
