I believe Darryl Ewing, Sligo Fishing Charters, operating from Rosses Point is the man for tope.kieran wrote:heading out Sunday from Killala, early start, just going to do some mixed fishing with some experienced hands, hoping for a decent turbot / ling - gonna pump the skipper for information on whether there is any tope left in the Bay - was once fantastic, have to be there somewhere given the Moy...

Re: any charter boat reports?
Thanks JW
Apparently the Ballina / Killala skippers don't target the Tope any more although one I was out with on Sunday indicated that they are still there - an area he referred to as "the garden" but not ideal for the bigger charter boats, something you could pursue in a day angler or similar...
Also said that there are porbeagle and blues further out on a specific line but that you need the right conditions and good anglers with the right gear. It was not far from the spot where a bunch of us tried to land fish from the shore a few years back, where we got runs but got bitten or sheared off...
So they are still out there, which is nice to know. ;0)
