Targeting squid on Irish coast

Are squid a real target by boat on our coast. If so, which stretches and what times of the year.
I read an article on squidding in Irish Angler a while back but it didn't address these questions.

you might be able to get squid from August to October, from Keem beach in Achill or off Fenit pier at night, the harbour in Dingle is another spot where they have been caught, its the lights that attract them in the evening. They were also large shoals present at Leenan pier in Donegal in 2011. They are certainly more more common in the west, haven't heard of any catches from the east coast. We normally have some as by catch when out in Galway bay in the evenings or on overcast days on return trips from late summer to autumn.

Generally, up around this way I'd expect the squid to arrive in September.

I had only heard of North West/West catches too, nothing on the East Coast.
A friend brought me back some squid jigs from holidays!!!!!! Looks like they'll settle as ornaments on the sideboard...
