New to West Cork

Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:04 pm

Well as an ex-charter skipper from the east coast, I am just loving it in west Cork. Myself and my partner were very lucky to find our dream home.
Now that we have a nice small boat and having great fun getting ready for the upcoming year of fishing.
We are going to go specimen hunting and fishing for the table.
I hope to get my mooring in this week and get fishing ASAP. Now all that fine but as I have been away from fishing for some time, it just amazes me the price of tackle,so i am doing it with fairly cheap gear as my ex-wife now tells me that all my 5500 euros worth of fishing tackle was stolen from her house in Wicklow last summer.
Just in case you get offered Penn international reels from TW30 down and Shimano TDL 25 two speed ,TDL25, this is some of what was stolen.
Fin-nor big game reek ,forget the model ,around 6,0.plus many more ,all lever drag, just forget what i had.
Rods 4 Browning starting at 80/130 lb down to 30 lb ,all roller.Shakespeare ugly stick 80/50 all roller.
many more ,just forget.
Vintage rod with one brass roller tip .heavy.with a very rare big wooden spool reel, two small handles.About 8 to 10 inches in diameter.
Much more ,when i remember i will update this note.

Anyway i am enjoying starting again from humble beginnings , i am just thankful for what i have.
now i just want some nice fish,i will be fishing half way out the sheep's head peninsula out to the open ocean so all tips would be gratefully received and fishing buds welcome ,

So for now ,tight you know what.
