Change in Cork Harbour or stick with the east??

Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:06 pm

lads,

The last few times I've been out on my boat or my buddies we have fished the east rough grounds and wrecks off Ballycotton and the fishing has been super.
Tomorrow I have a day planned with my father and I'd like a change, but he is expecting fish... So I want to deliver.
I reckon its too far from Ballycotton (fuel wise) to travel to the lings and the west wrecks (based in aghada)... but if I go west the fishing may not be as good east.
In fact last time we stopped in the smiths and the fishing was shocking

Anyone had much success out the lings lately or should I stick with ballycotton?

If I were you I would stick with the East, reports are poor for everywhere else with mackerel even scarce:-)

Was out there a few weeks ago and produced very little, wasn't worth the long trip, the Daunt is doing ok at the moment if you can get there with the bad weather. All the best and hope your Dad has a great day

Had engine probs so I didn't venture past trabolgan.
1 cod there to 5lb,
Then plenty of gurnard, and whiting in the harbour with a few pollock to 3lb on harbour rock and about 30macks all around the place coming on board in ones...
