I have never had a problem with my Icom. I hear no complaints about the Cobra and it is well priced:

Story man :) Theres a secondhand Floating, submersible, 5 watt Icom M33 for sale on adverts. They're a quality set and its in Crosshaven. Asking 140 EURO. :) I have an old Icom fixed set you can borrow to get ya going if you are putting it in a boat. There's also an old Sailor set in the shed, complete with Telephone receiver mic, retro chic or wha ?? :D

The Sailors are regarded as the Rolls Royce of VHF's.

They are indeed. Solid, reliable set. About the size of a rolls royce too  I have a lovely grey finished one but its 24v. Considering getting a power supply to put it going as a homebase set.
