Advice on Boat Rod

Sat Mar 03, 2012 1:59 pm

Hi Lads

A friend wants a new boat rod. As Im clueless about boat rods I thought Id post on here for some help for him.

What he wants:

-a 20lb class rod with a sensitive tip

-6ft in length

-one piece (if possible)

-preferably braid roller eyes (but will look at others)

-not too expensive...in the €60 area

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

At that money he is in the Leeda etc. territory - most tackle shops will have a budge range.
Get him to save his shillings and get something like a Diawa Kensaki 12/20 or even a 6/12 it will probably last longer than the budget rod due to better fittings etc.

this Mitchell Universe Pro Roller Boat Rod might fit the bill nicely: http://www.basstastic.co.uk/mitchell-un ... 1903-p.asp
if not there are a few more choices on the boat rod section.

i bought one of these recently for 50 pounds, they're charging 65 now

they are as light as the more expensive rods and have better quality rings now

Have one of these myself, fantastic rod for the money, have had tope to 42lb on it and it performed superbly.
