Cork Harbour Cod Fishing??? Help

Fri Jan 13, 2012 1:32 pm

Hi fellas

I'm fairly new to boat fishing in the harbour. Had a few poor days recently and I'm being outfished by my shore fishing friends  The shame is killing me!
Just wondering what's best stage of the tide for cod fishing in Cork Harbour weather permitting? My last two trips have been on big 4m+ tides.
I've been using hokkai feather yokes in black and luminous colours and the past two trips have just shown up a few pollock.
Been fishing mostly from the forts out to Roche's Point.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Regards
Chris

mackeral and squid are working wonders in the harbour, razor is so so, prawn's, scallops and mussels are useless. Didn't try worms.

What Bhoy said ;)

Thanks lads,

I'll give the mack or squid a lash in the next calm spell, and if that doen't work I might have a boat to offload :?

Mussels are one of the best baits for cod fishing if you're fishing at anchor. However, you need to know how to use them as they are a bit fiddly.

Just as John said use hokkai's with strips of mack. Fish the area around the dividing buoy and you can't go wrong.
