Decent rod and reel

Hi just wondering im going fishing on a boat end of month to cork and was wondering whats a decent rod and reel for boat fishing decent price also,and what would you wear on a boat? boots and clothing wise?cheers ! kopidol

i find some brands of runners have really good not slip soles, for the winter I have a pair one size
too big and put a neoprene sock under it, very dry and warm. I think light cheap waterproofs
are better than expensive suits, you can put a couple of layers under it if its cold and on
warm day you wont overheat.

for general fishing i would use any 7000 size multiplier spooled with 40lb braid and any boat rod
around 12-20 or 20-30lb rated.

If you're going out on a charter boat I would just hire a rod for the day, a lot of boats throw rods in free this time of year so it may not cost you anything! If you get more into boat fishing after your trip then go out and buy a rod & reel for that purpose. John is spot on with the cheap waterproofs, a pair of wellie boots are another option but I'd still bring the runners.

Plenty or layers is the secret in late October it can be damn cold out there when you're not used to it, you can always strip off a layer if your too warm

Lidl have excellent boots for the purpose at the moment, probably too warm for summer use though but at 20 yo yo's well worth buying
