Half decent boat rod

Thu Aug 11, 2011 1:32 pm

I am looking to pick up a new boat rod that has fairly good sensitivity, but would be able to handle heavier fish or tope if the need arises? Can anyone recommend one ? (I'm willing to spend €50 - 100).

This rod might just fit the picture if he still has it

If you have a look about you should manage to pick up a daiwa kenzaki 12-20lb for a little over €100. Google it, I'd be pretty confident there are little or no bad reports on it.

probably not ideal if he fancies heading out for tope or even congers, it's a little bit lite, and before anyone starts i have seen small tope and a 20lb cork conger been landed on one but at the end of the day it's really down to the lad operating the equipment, and what he is happy to target different species with:wink:

Marine Web Store have a "RT Kamikaze 20lb 2pc Carbon boat rod" for just under €50. The rod is also suitable as an uptider as well as heavier work. They are based in Cork, but post items all round Ireland. The web page is as http://www.marinewebstoreireland.com/#/ ... 4549269731

I bought one as the Sea Angling expo in Swords last February and am very happy with it.

Checkout the Shakespare Tidewater Braid 20/30. 2.55mt 2pc. And at around €75 ticks all your boxes

Thanks for all the suggestions lads..The Daiwa Kenzaki certainly looks like a fine rod Shambo, but I think the RT Kanmikazi could be slightly better value for what i'm looking for at the moment. I'll do a little more research on these babies

I Just wanted to thank Colm44.. I ordered a RT Kamikazi 7ft 20lb and it was delivered the next day  . I used it last last Sunday & Monday just off Carnsore point and found the action of the rod was exactly what I was looking for, and definitely increased my catch:bite ratio, with some nice Cod, Rass, Pollock, Red Gurnard, Doggies and macks. A good Christening!!
Thanks again
