Er, what gear have you available? List up what you have and we'll tell you what's worth taking along.
Or do you want an ideal starter kit listed so you can buy it before Saturday?

Contact the skipper,he is probably the best man to put you right as he may have basic gear available on board and he knows what ground you will be fishing over and what works for the likely species in the area. Enjoy

if all the reports from that end of the country is accurate

you will have to be careful what you dangle over the side as you might have a cod on it

good luck hope you get loads

you might be in for a bit of rock and roll on saturday so it might be worth taking sea sickness tablets.
i would start with a multiplier reel with 30 or 40lb mono, its a lot easier to recover from the inevitable
overruns and tangles.
a reasonably stiff rod around 7 feet long, plenty of leads 8oz, 10oz, 12oz around that
you should catch your own fresh mackerel, a tray of rag will give you some extra species
in term of rigs, baited black fethers would be a good place to start, use reasonable small hooks,
say size 2 or 4, if you get bored with small fish you can step up to a bigger size then

the rod reel and line will be supplyed to us by the skipper and all he told us to bring was a few jellys and bulls eyes any one know what bullseyes r and i dont mean the sweets

You are new to this just rely on the skipper if he is good you will catch and enjoy.
Ask as many questions as possible when you are on the boat and if it's your thing then you can start to spend money on gear, and by the way this is a never ending spend trail.
Main thing is to enjoy your day afloat.

know the feeling lad it sucks but everyone is the same.i have my own boat and it makes no difference when the weather is against you, all you can do is wait for it to clear.even if you did get out it would probley put you off deep sea angling for life, rough seas, people getting sick, just be patient all good things come to those who wait

I was out on Rebeca C from youghal Thursday and I still have a pain in my arms from pulling in Cod,I was using a 3 hook rig and pulled in 3- 5lb cod a couple of times never seen the likes of it in the middle of June,if we get a week or two of good hot weather I think it will put an end to the cod but then the big pollock will start..

I was out in Youghal Harbour yesterday evening and the fishing has never been so good, its my first year catching Cod from in around the bay. If your looking for some local tackle, rods, reels etc. Have a look at
http://www.marinewebstoreireland.com. They used only supply VHf radios and the like, but now have a good range of Sea Fishing tackle in stock also.
