best weather forecast?

hi, has any one a reliable way/web site to obtain an accurate forecast for the winds in an area you want to fish, ive used various web sites (msn weather, bbc, rte and google weather,) but on so many occasions they all differ. we were thinking of travelling to cork this sunday/monday with the boat and have been keeping an eye on the different forecasts but when you have tv and web site forecasts saying different things it makes you think twice as we are coming from ballinasloe . any thoughts or advice welcome !

The most accurate forecast you’ll get is the one you see out your front door

Looking at the forecast for Monday and Tuesday things would be fairly rough out there.
After the weekends winds I would be looking for a day or two of northerly’s to settle the sea.

I'd echo what Donal has to say. Take into account wave height. If you look at the windfinder site you'll see that there is a big sea running at the moment, somewhere between 15-20ft. It'll take a few days of N's to flatten that off. Wave height can also be picked up here: http://www.met.ie/latest/buoy.asp

its no good me looking at the weather here in ballinasloe as we are an hour from the coast and as we all know it can be so different when you get to where your fishing!!! we have been in galway bay listening to the up to date shipping forecast on the vhf and what they say sometimes does not happen. i know its not an exact science but when you travel maybe 2-4 hrs towing the boat on the strength of a forecast that says light winds only to find otherwise it can get frustrating.if there was anyway of getting lads that live on the coasts in various regions ie cork harbour, galway bay, wexford etc that we could contact for their views of current conditions this would be a great help, as the best knowledge is always local. could you also phone the coast guard service in an area you were thinking of fishing ? im going to look at some of the suggested websites that have been posted aswell , thanks

The best advice I can Give you Is get to know a local fisherman In the local where you intend to fish or ring one of the local charter boats that fish in the area where you intend to go . just book a couple of trips with them in return for the advice . This is what I do As I also live inland and have the same problems with the weather forcast as you do.
