Going out mid September and just looking any views, tips, species we can expect etc. Never fished East coast before as we always take a charter on the South and West coasts. Also can't wait to get out again so just looking to talk about it as well

. Cheers

Plumster - you got any evidence to back up your last post. It would worry me to be paying £350 to go out and catch a load of bloody mackerel!!

Don't know if you've gone out yet, but you'll be lucky to even get mackerel - it's been pretty bad this year. There are small coleys and cod and pollack too, and there are good wrasse on some of the ridges inside the lough. You can also catch conger inside the harbour at Greenore. There are some good tope around too - if you're on a drifting party boat, it's probably best to float the bait away from the boat to prevent tangles (balloons are good for this).
I suppose you're going with Peyton Cunningham - he knows the waters around there at least as well as anyone, so he'll put you over fish, but don't expect any behemoths.
