He's being serious alright!
Tractor/Lorry tyre filled with concrete would do too.

If it's anything like Cork Harbour you cannot just throw in a mooring where you like - and they lift non-registered moorings.

big weight in a train wheel, you could try ringing irish rail and see where breaks trains.
you could try some old salvage yards and ask them,i have seen them in these places over the years. i used to work in one
jims idea sounds very good filling a tyre with concrete, you could also fill a lorry wheel rim with concrete

Rogerstown is cramed with moorings and there has been a lot of trouble with the ferry that goes to lambay because the channel is so crowded better off looking elsewhere.

cheers paul but somewhere else is'nt an option for me , im planning on mooring it closer to the mussel beds away from the pier, ive seen a few bouys there that seem to be deserted so might see if i can find out about them first, will have to dive down to see what sort of anchors they have, do you have a boat there yourself :?:

I wish! No my brother has a yacht on a mooring and he fills me in about the goings on over the moorings, he has to borrow a mooring because he lent his out a number years and cant get it back.
Be careful where you put your moorings on the mussel bed because they dry out and are liable to vandalism, and the boat owners on moorings are very covetous of their space.
