lads after highlighting the huge amounts of jellyfish in howth. my 2 elderly uncles who were out with me last week rang me and told me they both got rashes on there hands and face and dident know what it was from. the slime from these jelly fish is coming back up the line and is a skin irritant

I meant to bring this one up Derek. Over the past couple of weeks I have been out a few times in Greystones... I have never seen anything like it in my live.... Hundreds of thousands of Jellyfish everywhere from 500 Meters off the shoreline to a few miles out.... Couldn't believe it. They were drifting by us in their droves no matter where we wend. I must try report it tomorrow, just in case.

you have to be carefull while pulling the anchor rope as this can be full of the stinging tenticles, have a bottle of vinegar in the boat to pour over the stings and pickle fresh mackeral if you ever manage to catch some

Seriously Guys...... Hundreds of Thousands.... Drifting by in clouds just under the surface while I was at anchor everywhere I went. Next big easterlies will more than likely see tons of these guys washed up on the beaches.

read somewhere its due to ocean temperature rise, over 1 degree in the irish sea, brings all the jellys out.
simular situation except these are all around 8 to ten inces in size. all common jellyfish with the 4 pink rings

yes we were out on wednesday and it was like jellyfish soup. the infection to the mouth off these is quite severe. roslyn who was out on our last trip got a really bad infection all around her mouth and lips . just be careful wash your hands after reeling in .and if you see the slime on your line wash the handle of the rod .
