braid for boat reel info

im looking to replace the line on my shimano boat reel, it had 30ld maxima mono.. served me well for bottom fishing off the kerry coast, mainly inshore... i was thinking of putting some 50lb braid on it to make thing a bit easier in a tide, deeper water, bite detection etc..

most spools of braid come in only 200m or so, im wondering what the best/cheapest/ brand for putting on a boat reel is?

I use spiderwire or dynobraid myself although most brands are good.

50lb is fine.Bring a pair of gloves for when you get foul of bottom!

Make sure you have good backing on your reel.

It takes a while to get used to, but once you do ,you will never use anything else.

For general all round angling, I go for 20 lb Fireline. For lighter gear I step down to 14 lb Fireline. Lots of guys prefer their braid to be 30 lbs. Not much need for anything stronger than that, I reckon.

The 200 m spool of braid is more than adequate if you have mono backing on your reel.

prefer 80lb braid!...same dia as 20lb mono tends not to fly around as much few tips

don't fill the reel out leave 5/10mm
Most braid floats...great for shore and rock fishing
Multi colour availabe -on the same spool

enjoy
