waypoints too/from lowrance hds-5m?

i cant this to work, the unit can save waypoints to a 2 gig sd card
but i cannot view the files under either windows or linux. Do lowrance use their
own file system? any help appreciated.

from the PC-

hi jw i had the same problem i had a lowrance 3500 chartplotter my marks were saved to card went to put them on my new hd-s5 and would not work i had to write them down and got a navplanner loaded the disc in labtop put my marks in put the new card in and saved them to it took out my card put it back into the chartplotter and the loaded up straight away i got the navplanner on ebay from usa saved a few euros i got the platinum card for the hd-5 well worth it

hmm, file system is reported as FAT16, maybe the card got corrupted somehow, could happen for a lot of reasons, did you try to use any data recovery software yet? ZAR is very good.

i made a bit of progress, i plugged the card into a different pc with built in sd card slot
and i can see the file fine. must be incompatibile with the external sd reader for some
reason. still researching the options as i have mapsource charts on my pc from a previous
garmin plotter...

you could email the charts to yourself or upload to a free file host and use the pc whit the compatible card reader to transfer them back.
