Bayliner 185 - need info quick!!

Fri Feb 19, 2010 7:54 pm

Lads,
I have an opportunity to buy a Bayliner 185 at a very very good price. I appreciate its not a fishing boat but I would really appreciate if anybody could offer advice on it?
I've carried out some research online but any 1st hand info would be appreciated.

I would be using it for the usual bringing the kids out stuff but would also be using it for a lot of fishing, drifting over sand for flats etc, bass fishing inshore and tope fishing too.

All help is appreciated because I need to make a decision on the boat by Monday!!

Colm

any boat that you fish from 2 men up, is a good boat.
plus the kids are entertained! bonus!
safety first

check out this link http://images03.olx.com/ui/1/55/09/f_40784609_3.jpeg to see what oppotunities a bayliner can bring you! Never seen that happening in my little orkney

Seriously though, been out in its bigger brother (lovely boats - pretty luxurious compared to my wooden bench seats) a couple of times and if its flat they are fine to fish off, but swell or wake makes them roll. Wouldn't be my first choice of fishing boat. But could be good if you're going to be doing the family stuff and the kids are small. If its a good price then why not, you can always make your money back or better if it doesn't suit you.

Had a speed boat last year and its not much use for fishing, especially with kids, no comfort at all. I have changed to a bonwitco 400c. As pointed out, you are very restricted as to when you can go cos if its lumpy you could be in trouble.

Any questions, just PM

Best of luck what ever you do,

Cormac
