Trailer Advice

Sat Jan 23, 2010 3:09 pm

Lads,
We have an Orkney Fastliner and need to take it out of the water for work. Our own trailer is past it's sell by date/out of action and needs to be replaced (it's an indespension roller coaster trailer over 10yrs old) .
We were out at indespension and the bloke said that an indespension 'Coaster' trailer would take the weight/load of the fastliner. They are quoting 1,300 euro for it new.
My question is: will it do the job and is there an alternative? We have to get a trailer as the boat is out of action and needs to be pulled out for the work.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Colm

Best people to ask are Orkney themselves.

Give them a call, I found them very friendly and a fount of informationabout every little thing relating to their boats, no matter how obscure.

What's wrong with your current trailer, can't it be refurbished/repaired in the meantime?

You can see from the link what "roller coaster" trailers there are and the specs for weight and length.

http://www.indespension.co.uk/b2c/app/I ... 640&slnk=1

The sales man is probably offering a "roller coaster X".

For the life of me I cannot find the weight of the fastliner anywhere though something tells me they are around 550 kg adding gear engine etc. you may want a trailer to take at least 700-800kg GVW and being sure it can accomodate the boat of about 6m.

Just looking back at some of my old fastliner pics Jim, would it be 490kg? the 165 is 550kg.

Mine was on the roller coaster 1 trailer, it seemed to do the job ok, don't think it was quite the right setup though, certainly a bit short on the arse end :D

Thanks Lads , great feedback. We don't trail the boat much at all except to take it out of the water back up to the house for repairs. Based on the info and pics I've a good idea what we need.

Cheers
