Hi All
Was up in killybegs on saturday to do some fishing on a charter boat . headed out that morning ,stopped at the salmon farm and got a few macks ,then headed out to the reefs to fish for pollock and ling .
we anchored on one mark for about two hours , got two two pollock and that was it for the day .We went to about five other marks but got nothing , the skipper reckoned it was down to global warming ,and that the fish had moved . I heard there were guys in small boats commercial fishing the reefs for pollock . was wondering what its like in other parts of the country or was it just a bad day , i have been out on a good few charter boats but havnt seen it that bad before

We were out from Culdaff on Friday, global warming must be affecting Killybegs differently to Culdaff, cause we had plenty of Pollack, wrasse, & Coalies, we also had Codling, whiting and Gurnard (red, tub and grey).
I have heard that the fishing out of Killybegs is pretty bad, probably doesnt help when they still have weigh-in's after comps.

8 friends of mine went to kilmore quay yesterday for the full day 500 euros for the day results 1 pollock and 1 codling
iv never heard of anyone blanking on a charter from kilmore so it must have been the high tides this weekend. in howth on saturday i moved to the shallows to fish and had 60 macks in about 2 hrs all the other boats fishing deep blanked
the currents must keep the fish moving too fast or something. has anyone else ever blanked on a charter from kilmore?

It wouldnt have anything to do with the skippers knowledge would it ?? some I have seen, seem to lack local knowledge by the catch that is coming back.

dont think it was the skipper there were other boats on the marks where we were fishing and when we weren't catching he moved ,they didnt seem to be getting anything either

it had to be the huge tides last week the boats would be moving too fast over reefs and even anchored the currents would be too strong no one has answered my question do you know of anyone who has blanked on a trip out of kilmore?

There has been plenty of blanks drawn by anglers over the past 4 months on board charters out of Kilmore.
