Cork harbour

Guys myself and ronald hoping to take the task of the long haul down with the boat from the north down to fish cork harbour and surrounding areas on the first week of oct can any one fill me in on info regarding slipways bait what's about ect and any marks worth trying or if anyone is up for a meet cheers

It should be a bit of a road trip but hopefully the weather plays ball will the sharks still be around if the weather is right and we can get offshore ?
Any info on marks will be treated with the usual discretion, and hopefully we'll be able to meet up with a few people for a pint or two (even if it's only to get info out of them )

Forgot to mention will we be needing the type of gear we use on the north coast like 2 - 5 lb leads and 30-80lb rods and reel, or are the tides/depths normal around cork harbour and offshore

Hey Ronald,

You'll be fishing big enough tides, but nothing massive. 6 - 8oz leads should cover you for most of your drifting. You might need a 10oz if your on the lings in the middle of the push or Ebb.

General fishing depths outside the Harbour range from 50ft to 150ft for general drifting, depending on what your after.

Thanks for that Kev, that'll fairly cut the weight down in the tackle box, just wonder if I have that many light leads , i might need to pay a visit to trap and tackle

light leads It gauls me to go above 8oz... When it cork I fish one of the multi tip rods with the lightest tip and 6oz 80% of the time. If your doing a bit of fishing inside the harbour then you will be able to use some lighter leads as well.
